Colorize jq output with less

When you try to less the output of jq command like this: < demo.json jq . | less, the output is not colored... You have to use the -C flag of jq and the -r flag of less: < demo.json jq -C . | less -r will give the following output: { "glossary": { "title": "example glossary", "GlossDiv": { "title": "S", "GlossList": { "GlossEntry": { "ID": "SGML", "SortAs": "SGML", "GlossTerm": "Standard Generalized Markup Language", "Acronym": "SGML", "Abbrev": "ISO 8879:1986", "GlossDef": { "para": "A meta-markup language, used to create markup languages such as DocBook.", "GlossSeeAlso": [ "GML", "XML" ] }, "GlossSee": "markup" } } } } }
